Water Quality
Do you know the quality of the water you drink?
The quality of drinking water guarantees optimum function of all our vital functions as living beings. If water quality is altered, our health is at risk. As you know, much of human activities require the manipulation of water for many purposes. Therefore, the characteristics of water are influenced both by natural factors and human use. When the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of water are altered, sometimes they can not be used directly for human consumption as it may be harmful to our health. What are the most common contaminants that alter water quality? Although a considerable number of public health problems may occur as a result of chemical pollution, the highest incidence of health issues are related to contamination by pathogenic microorganisms, mainly of fecal origin. These organisms increase the risk of disease and can sometimes trigger outbreaks of disease transmission. How can I know the quality of the water that I am consuming? To know the quality of your water, one must conduct a water quality test through a series of chemical and microbiological analyses that can be performed in the field or laboratory. One of the main objectives of testing water quality is to detect possible health risks associated with water for human use and consumption. Where can I carry out these tests? Cantaro Azul employs staff qualified to perform both physicochemical and microbiological analyses so families, organizations and institutions know the quality of the water they use and consume, and thus may anticipate potential risks. What types of water quality analyses does Cantaro Azul carry out? Cantaro Azul performs three types of water quality analysis which are based on the level of risk to human health: · Microbiological Analysis includes detection of the total coliforms and E. coli. · Physical and Chemical Analysis includes parameters such as nitrates, nitrites, iron, pH, turbidity, absorbance, arsenic and other elements that can affect public or environmental health. · Aesthetic Analysis includes parameters that cause consumers to reject water (total dissolved solids, temperature, taste, color, odor and salinity).
